LMO score another film for Lewis series 6 with Barrington Pheloung.
LMO recently recorded Fearful Symmetry directed by Nick Renton and produced by Chris Burt – another film in a new series of ITV’s flagship TV drama series – Lewis which stars Kevin Whately as Inspector Lewis and Laurence Fox as DS James Hathaway.
Barrington Pheloung used an 18 piece string section with flute, oboe, 2 clarinets, horn and harp for his score which he also conducted at Abbey
Road studio 2 with
LMO which was led by Tom Bowes.
Matt Slater assisted Barrington with score preparation and the session was engineered by Paul Golding.

LMO record Lay the Favorite with James Brett
LMO recently recorded Lay the Favorite with composer James Brett – a dramady about a woman in her thirties (Catherine Zeta – Jones) who becomes involved with a group of men who have found a way to manipulate the gambling system in Las Vegas. Lay the Favorite also stars Bruce Willis and is directed by Stephen Frears.
James Brett scored for 23 strings which were led by Rita Manning
and also used various guitars for his soundtrack including Pedal Steel
guitar which was played by Melvin Duffy. Later, Rosabella Gregory added vocals to the score.
The recording sessions took place at Abbey Road studio 2, and were engineered by Sam Okell.
Lay the Favorite is released in the US on January 21.

LMO record The Impossible with Fernando Velázquez
LMO have just completed recordings with composer Fernando Velázquez for The Impossible – a very moving story of a family caught up in one of the worst natural disasters of our time.
The Impossible was filmed on location in Alicante, Spain and Thailand and stars Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor. The screenplay was written by Sergio Sanchez and the films’ director is Juan Antonio Bayona.
The recording sessions took place at Abbey Road studio 1, with LMO led by Tom Bowes and conducted by the composer. 40 strings together with piano and harp, were used throughout the sessions and a brass group of 4 horns and 3 trombones supplemented 1 of the sessions. There were also 2 solo timpani sessions and the score was enhanced throughout by extensive cello solos which were performed by LMO principal Dave Daniels.
Steve McLaughlin engineered and co – produced the recordings with Fernando Velázquez and you can see The Impossible next year when it is released by Summit Entertainment.

LMO record Endeavour with Barrington Pheloung
LMO recently recorded Endeavour – ITV’s prequel to Inspector Morse with composer Barrington Pheloung.
Endeavour, set in the 1960’s, stars Shaun Evans as a younger Morse and is directed by Colm McCarthy.
Barrington Pheloung used a 17 piece string section with flute, oboe, 2 clarinets, 2 horns, harp and guitar for the score which he also conducted
at Abbey Road studio 1 with LMO which was led by Tom Bowes.
During the session a Puccini aria was recorded with soprano Janis Kelly for a key scene in the film.

LMO score A Fantastic Fear of Everything with Michael Price
LMO have just recorded Michael Price’s music for A Fantastic Fear of Everything a new UK Independent Production by Keel Films.
A Fantastic Fear of Everything is Directed by Chris Hopewell and Crispian Mills who also wrote the screenplay. It stars Simon Pegg and Clare Higgins and tells the story of Jack – a paranoid children’s author turned crime novelist whose big Hollywood break turns in to his big breakdown as he’s forced to confront his worst demons..
Michael Price scored firstly for a 14 piece brass group (6 horns, 3 trumpets, 2 tenor trombones, 2 bass trombones and tuba) followed by a session for 3 percussionists. Finally a string session (8 first violins, 6 seconds, 5 violas, 4 celli and 2 double basses) recorded a session together with clarinet doubling bass clarinet, bassoon doubling contra and harp.
LMO was led by Tom Bowes and conducted by Michael Price and the sessions took place at Abbey Road studio 2 with Andy Dudman as engineer and co – producer with Michael Price.
A Fantastic Fear of Everything is due for release on June 8, 2012.
LMO musicians record for Bono and The Edge’s performance at Clinton charity concert
An LMO string group recently recorded arrangements by Caroline Dale for President Clinton’s recent charity concert at the Hollywood Bowl titled – A Decade of Difference which also celebrated Clinton’s 65th birthday. The arrangements were for Bono and The Edge’s appearance at the event, in which Caroline Dale also performed.
LMO record 30 Degrees Couleur with Klaus Badelt
LMO have just recorded Klaus Badelt’s music for 30 Degrees Couleur – a new French film.
Klaus Badelt wrote for a 30 piece LMO string group comprising 10 first violins, 8 seconds, 6 violas, 4 cello and 2 double basses with the addition of LMO principal Sally Heath, who recorded piano solos with the strings.
LMO was led by Philippa Ibbotson and conducted by Andy Brown and the sessions took place at Abbey Road studio 1.
Jake Jackson was the engineer and the session was co produced by Klaus Badelt and Andrew Raiher.
30 Degrees Couleur is due for release later this year.
