The London Metropolitan Orchestra String Ensemble play live with Joji Hirota

LMO’s next live performance will be with Joji Hirota. Formed in the early 80′s, Joji Hirota & London Taiko Drummers are a well established Japanese traditional and contemporary taiko drumming group, who have performed at many worldwide concerts and international festivals.

The London Metropolitan Orchestra String Ensemble have been invited to join Joji Hirota for an exciting evening of Japanese Folk music and Taiko Drumming on March 9th at St Mary’s Church. The concert will be directed by Andy Brown.

LMO score The White Crow with Ilan Eshkeri

LMO recently recorded Ilan Eshkeri’s score for The White Crow.thewhitecrow_poster

The White Crow tells the story of Rudolf Nureyev’s early life until he defected from the USSR. It is written by David Hare and Julie Kavanagh and directed by Ralph Fiennes.

Ilan Eshkeri wrote for 40 strings, double woodwind, 4 horns, 2 trumpets, 2 tenor trombones, bass trombone and tuba, harp, percussion and timps. Tom Kemp led LMO and the sessions were conducted by LMO’s Music Director Andy Brown. World renowned violin soloist Liza Bhatsvilli contributed extensive violin solos for the soundtrack, accompanied by LMO. The recordings took place at Air Lyndhurst Hall and were engineered and produced by Steve Mclaughlin and Ilan Eshkeri.

White Crow was released on March 22nd.

LMO start recordings for Endeavour series VI with Matt Slater

Endeavour film 2 sessionLMO recently recorded Matt Slater’s score for the second film in the sixth series of the hugely popular ITV Drama series Endeavour, starring Shaun Evans.

This film is also directed by Shaun Evans for the first time. Matt Slater scored for a 42 piece string section with 2 horns, harp, and piano doubling celeste. LMO was led by Rita Manning and conducted by the composer. The session was engineered by Paul Golding at Abbey Road Studio 1.Endeavour film 1 session

Endeavour series VI is produced by Mammoth Screen and Masterpiece for ITV and started broadcasting on February 10th, 2019.

LMO record Waiting for Anya with James Brett

LMO record Waiting for AnyaLMO recently recorded James Brett’s score for Waiting for Anya at Abbey Road studio 1.

Waiting for Anya tells the story of a young shepherd (played by Noah Schnapp) who, with the help of a widow (played by Angelica Huston), helps smuggle Jewish children across the French pyrenees into Spain during WWII.

James scored for 12 first violins, 10 seconds, 8 violas, 6 celli and 4 double basses overLMO record Waiting for Anya 2 days and also conducted the sessions. LMO was led by David Juritz, and there were further overdub contributions from John Mills (violin) Eliza Marshall (l0 (flutes/ethnic flutes) and Jake Walker (folk fiddle). Sessions were recorded by Andy Dudman and mixed by Jonathan Allen.

Waiting for Anya is produced by Goldfinch films, Fourth Culture films and Bad Penny productions and will be distributed by Eagle films for release later in 2019.

LMO are the featured orchestra for Virgin Media’s new campaign with Usain Bolt

1 smallLMO were honoured to be chosen by Virgin Media as the featured orchestra for the new Switch to Super: Orchestra TV Ad.

To demonstrate Virgin Media’s new fast broadband, the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt exhorts the orchestra to play faster and faster as he increases speed on a treadmill next to them..

LMO, led by David Juritz comprised 27 strings, double woodwind, 4 horns, 2 trumpets, tenor trombone, bass trombone, tuba, 2 percussion and timps. Filming took place over 2 days at 3 Mills studios, London.

The Ad was created by Adam Noble at Bartle Bogle Hegarty, London and directed by Jake Szymanski through Caviar.

LMO record ‘Sun’ with Two Door Cinema Club for Universal Audio

LMO recently recorded ‘Sun’ with Two Door Cinema Club and producer/engineer Jacknife Lee at Air Lyndhurst Hall, London.

Performed in front of leading industry figures and VIPs, the session for Universal Audio demonstrated Apollo X audio interfaces and Unison™-enabled UAD Powered Plug-Ins.

Arranger Davide Rossi scored for 39 strings, 4 flutes (with 2 doubles), 4 horns, 2 trumpets, 2 tenor trombones, 1 bass trombone, tuba, 2 percussion and timps, with solo vocals by Daisy Chute.

Andy Brown conducted LMO which was led by David Juritz.

LMO perform with Paul Weller at London’s Royal Festival Hall

Paul Weller and LMO recently performed 2 sold out concerts at the Royal Festival Hall, London.

Paul performed tracks from his new album True Meanings as well as other career classics in the concerts, which were also recorded for subsequent DVD and cinematic release. Hannah Peel arranged and conducted the tracks and scored for strings and brass. LMO was led by Kirsten Klingels.

The concert cinematic release is scheduled for February 28, 2019.

LMO record Christmas Ident music with Alex Baranowski

LMO record Christmas Ident music with Alex BaranowskiLMO recently recorded title music for all BBC1’s Christmas 2018 programmes with composer Alex Baranowski.

Alex scored for an unusual but very effective lineup which comprised 2 groups of nine strings (4 violins, 2 violas, 2 cello and double bass) with solo violin played by Janice Graham and solo cello played by Peter Gregson.

Nureyev is released

Rudolf Nureyev, ballet dancer, New York City, October 1, 1962A documentary film about the life of legendary Russian dancer Rudolf Nureyev has just been released to considerable critical acclaim.

LMO recorded Alex Baranowski’s score in February 2017 at Abbey Road studio 1.

Alex scored for a 9 piece string section, which was led by David Juritz, who also contributed violin solos. Richard Harwood also recorded cello

solos for the soundtrack. LMO was conducted by Andy Brown.

Nureyev is produced by Jacqui Morris and David Morris and released byFrith Street Films.

Alex Baranowski’s soundtrack is available on Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon music.

LMO record with Sheridan Smith

SS 1 smallLMO recently completed recordings for Sheridan Smith’s new album at British Grove Studios.

Rupert Christie arranged 11 tracks for the new album and also conducted LMO which was led by David Juritz.

The album was recorded in 4 sessions – 2 sessions for 22 strings, 1 for 4 horns and 1 for trumpet, tenor trombone and tenor and baritone sax.

Sheridan Smith’s album will shortly be released on the Warner Music label.
