LMO record Inside Out for WWE
LMO have just recorded Jim Johnston’s score for Inside Out – the latest in a series of films for WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment).
Inside Out, directed by Artie Mandelberg, is a crime thriller starring Paul Levesque and Michael Rapaport as AJ and Jack – two best friends who get involved in an accidental shooting in which a man is killed, forcing Jack to go on the run.
4 times BMI award winning composer Jim Johnston used a 30 piece string orchestra for the recording comprising 10 first violins, 8 seconds, 6 violas, 4 celli and 2 double basses.
The score was recorded by Jake Jackson at Abbey Road Studio 2 with LMO led by Gaby Lester and conducted by Andy Brown. Jim Johnston produced the recording with Chris Brooks, from a live link with a Los Angeles studio.
Inside Out will be released by WWE in the US later in 2011.
LMO record Dimensions
LMO have just recorded Dimensions – a new film which tells the story of a brilliant young boy’s chance meeting with a Professor which leads to a fascination with the theory of bending time. The Professor’s theories are then tested by the boy after a tragic event occurs..
Dimensions is directed by Sloane U’Ren and produced by Antony Neely who also wrote the screenplay and the music score. It was filmed
exclusively on location in Cambridgeshire.
The recording sessions took place at British Grove studios with 24 strings led by Gaby Lester and conducted by Andy Brown. Later, LMO pianist Sally Heath added solo and textural piano cues. Orchestrations were by Natalie Holt and Richard Lancaster engineered the recordings. Christoph Bauschinger was the music producer.

Kick-Ass wins Best British Film!
Kick-Ass was recently voted Best British Film at the Empire Movies Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
LMO recorded the score for Kick-Ass in January 2010.

LMO record with Ilan Eshkeri for Richard Hammond’s Journey to the Centre of the Planet
LMO recently recorded Richard Hammond’s Journey to the Centre of the Planet – a film in 2 episodes for BBC in a co production with the Discovery channel.
Richard Hammond’s Journey to the Centre of the Planet presented by Richard Hammond, explores the geology of our planet and the way it affects human lives in an ever changing way. It combines stunning CGI with dramatic shots of some of the most extreme natural environments on our planet.
The recording sessions took place at British Grove studios and started with a brass group comprising 6 horns, 3 tenor trombones, 2 bass trombones and tuba. Later a group of 8 celli led by LMO principal cellist Caroline Dale recorded further cues which were later mixed with the brass and further electronic tracks. The sessions were conducted by Andy Brown and recorded / produced by Steve Mclaughlin and Ilan Eshkeri.
Journey to the Centre of the Planet was recently broadcast on BBC1 and the Discovery channel.

LMO record internet TV logos for Sony
LMO recently recorded a jingle for Sony advertising its internet TV services.
24 strings (8 first violins, 6 seconds, 6 violas and 4 celli) were led by Rita Manning and conducted by Andy Brown in Abbey Road studio 2 – benefiting from the new mixing desk which was installed earlier this year. Steve McLaughlin engineered and co-produced the recordings with
Ian Neil.
LMO record another film for Lewis series 5 with Barrington Pheloung
LMO recently recorded Old, Unhappy, Far Off Things which is directed by Nick Renton and produced by Chris Burt – the last film in a new series of ITV’s flagship TV drama series – Lewis which stars Kevin Whately as Inspector Lewis and Laurence Fox as DS James Hathaway. Old, Unhappy, Far Off Things also stars Clare Holman.
Barrington Pheloung used a 17 piece string section with flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and harp for his underscore which he also conducted at Abbey Road studio 1 with LMO which was led by Tom Bowes.
Matt Slater assisted Barrington with score preparation and the session was engineered by Paul Golding.

LMO record Sky Movies logos
LMO have just recorded music by Ilan Eshkeri for the Sky Movies channel. The music supports a sequence of film collages (action, western, period drama etc) which will be used to advertise Sky’s upcoming movie broadcasts.
Steve Mclaughlin co-produced the sessions with Ilan Eshkeri at Abbey Road studio 1 and LMO was led by Tom Bowes and conducted by Andy Brown. A 40 piece string section was used (12 violins 1, 10 violins 2, 8 violas, 6 celli and 4 double basses) with 8 woodwind, harp and piano, 4 horns, 2 trumpets, 2 tenor and 1 bass trombone and tuba.
Later timpani and percussion (including bass drum, cymbals, gong and triangle) were added to the soundtrack, together with 12 ladies from Metro Voices (6 sopranos and 6 altos).
The new logos started broadcasting recently on the Sky movies channel.

LMO record The Edinburgh Suite with Phamie Gow
LMO recently completed recordings for The Edinburgh Suite – a new album from Scotland’s multi-talented performer and composer Phamie Gow.
Phamie is renowned for her ground breaking performances as harpist,singer,pianist,whistle player,accordianist and composer for film and TV and has toured extensively throughout the World. This collaboration with LMO is her first orchestral album in which she also features extensively as pianist.
The first session comprised 23 strings (6 first violins, 6 seconds, 5 violas, 4 celli and 2 double basses) which were led by David Juritz. A string quintet then recorded more tracks in a second session. A third session was convened with 6 brass (2 horns, 2 trumpets, tenor trombone and bass trombone) and the final session involved woodwind (flute, oboe and clarinet). Further overdubs were added by John Paricelli (acoustic and electric guitars) and Steve Mclaughlin (cymbals).
The sessions were conducted by Andy Brown and took place at Metropolis studios. Steve Mclaughlin engineered and co-produced the recordings with Phamie Gow.
Tim Hollier at Music Publishers Copyright Administration Services generously commissioned The Edinburgh Suite, which will be released later in 2011 and there are further plans for live performances.
LMO score Retreat with Ilan Eshkeri
LMO recently completed Ilan Eshkeri’s score for Retreat – a new psychological thriller starring Jamie Bell, Cillian Murphy and Thandie Newton and directed by Carl Tibbetts.
A married couple are spending some time alone in a remote location to try and repair their relationship when they are confronted by a lone bio soldier who tells them that an airborne disease has swept the planet and they’re the only people left alive – is he telling the truth..?
Ilan Eshkeri used 15 strings (5 first violins, 4 seconds, 3 violas, 2 celli and double bass) over 2 sessions at British Grove studios and LMO was led by Gaby Lester and conducted by Andy Brown. Later Sally Heath recorded piano overdubs and Jack Liebeck contributed violin solos to the soundtrack. Steve Mclaughlin engineered and co-produced the sessions with Ilan Eshkeri.
Retreat was released on October 13 2011.
LMO
