LMO tour Japan

Cover SmallLMO have recently returned from a 9 concert tour to Japan. Cities visited included Tokyo, Sendai, Morioka, Otsuchi and Iwate – some of the worst affected areas of the Great East Japan earthquake and Tsunami in March 2011. The Tohoku Charity, established to support victims of the tragedy through cultural support, promoted the tour which followed concerts and recordings in London. Further support came from the British Council, Japan foundation, Sasakawa Great Britain, Anglo Japanese organisation, and the Daiwa Foundation. The tour repertoire celebrated a fascinating fusion of Eastern and Western cultures and included arrangements of traditional
Japanese folksongs by multi instrumentalist and composer / arranger
Joji Hirota who 1 Smallwas also a soloist on the tour.

LMO was led by Rita Manning and conducted by Andy Brown. The principal cellist Rachael Lander has written a very insightful blog (part one and part two) and a tour dvd will shortly be available for sale with all proceeds to be donated to the Tohoku charity.

LMO perform at Earl’s Court for the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone

X3 SmallLMO recently performed live for Samsung Mobile Unpacked – the launch of Samsung’s new smartphone, the Galaxy S3.

A seventeen piece LMO string group and 3 brass, led by David Juritz and conducted by Andy Brown performed music and arrangements by Julian Scott and Julian Kershaw at Earl’s Court 1 for the product which was introduced by Samsung President J K Shin.

The Galaxy S3, which is intended to rival Apple’s iPhone, will be available to consumers by the end of May 2012.

LMO musicians record for Bono and The Edge’s performance at Clinton charity concert

Hollywood Bowl SmallAn LMO string group recently recorded arrangements by Caroline Dale for President Clinton’s recent charity concert at the Hollywood Bowl titled – A Decade of Difference which also celebrated Clinton’s 65th birthday. The arrangements were for Bono and The Edge’s appearance at the event, in which Caroline Dale also performed.

LMO record Batman Live

Batman Front Page Poster SmallLMO recently recorded James Brett‘s score for Batman The Live World Arena Tour over 19 sessions at Abbey Road Studio 1.

The Batman Live World Arena Tour is a unique action-packed stage show which will tour the UK and Europe before arriving in North America in summer 2012. The tour started at the Manchester Evening News Arena on July 19, 2011.

LMO Live with the Cinematic Orchestra!

1 SmallLMO recently performed a hugely successful concert with the Cinematic Orchestra to a sold out Royal Albert Hall. The concert started with LMO conducted by Andy Brown performing the world premiere of orchestral arrangements by Amon Tobin. After an LMO ensemble performed a set with the Dorian Concept, the concert concluded with the Cinematic Orchestra and LMO performing reinterpretations from across the whole of the Cinematic catalogue.

LMO joined the Cinematic Orchestra live on November 6 at the Roundhouse, London.

The Roundhouse resizedLMO conducted by Andy Brown joined the Cinematic Orchestra for a concert of original soundtracks for classic short films including ‘The Man with a Movie Camera’. The concert featured well known rap artist Roots Manuva and the collaboration between LMO and the Cinematic orchestra continues an association which was formed for the original recording and live performance of the Disneynature film Crimson Wing.

LMO record for U2′s 360° Tour

U2 resizedU2′s current 360° Tour features an innovative 360° design which affords an unobstructed view for the audience. It was created by U2 Show Director Willie Williams and marks the first time a band has toured in stadiums with such a unique and original structure. The tour started at the Nou Camp, Barcelona on June 30th and features incidental arrangements by Caroline Dale recorded recently with LMO.
