LMO recently recorded tracks for Kasabian’s new album Velociraptor!

The sessions took place at British Grove Studios and were engineered and produced by Steve McLaughlin.

LMO quartet records with SHINee

An LMO string quartet recently recorded a live performance with popular South Korean boy band SHINee from Abbey Road studio 2.

The performance, in front of an invited audience, featured their new single Replay and was also filmed by the bands’ record label EMI Music for DVD release in Japan and other countries.

Motorstorm Apocalypse

LMO recently recorded Motorstorm Apocalypse – a new game from Sony Playstation.

The session took place at Abbey Road Studio 2 and the sessions were engineered by Jake Jackson and co-produced by Klaus Badelt.

This new Motorstorm Apocalypse game which is the third in the series was released in early 2011.

James Brett scores for Disney with LMO.

James Brett recently scored his music for Disney In Store Entertainment with LMO at Abbey Road studio 1. James used a 40 piece string section (12 first violins, 10 seconds, 8 violas, 6 celli and 4 double basses), 3 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 4 horns, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, tuba, harp, celeste and timps for the score which was recorded over 2 days. Additional overdubs were contributed by vocalists and a children’s choir. LMO (led by Tom Bowes) was conducted by James Brett and recorded and mixed by Andy Dudman. Matt Walker was the music producer.

The music (with accompanying Disney footage) was recently released in Disney Stores worldwide.

LMO record with Lang Lang!

LMO recently recorded ‘A Christmas Carol‘ for Sony’s Christmas advertising campaign at Abbey Road Studio 1 with composer Ilan Eshkeri.

Ilan used a 28 piece string section with flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, 2 horns, trumpet, 2 trombones and harp for the session for which LMO was led by Nick Ward and conducted by Andy Brown.

Steve McLaughlin engineered and co – produced the session with Ilan Eshkeri and later International pianist Lang Lang recorded piano solos, combining with the LMO soundtrack.

LMO record for U2

U2’s current 360° Tour features an innovative 360° design which affords an unobstructed view for the audience. It was created by U2 Show Director Willie Williams and marks the first time a band has toured in stadiums with such a unique and original structure. The tour started at the Nou Camp, Barcelona on June 30th.

LMO recently recorded incidental arrangements by Caroline Dale for the Tour at British Grove studios. Caroline scored for 4 violins, 2 violas, 2 celli and double bass. Cathy Thompson led LMO and, in a subsequent session, Martin Robertson played solo Deduk with further cello solos from Caroline Dale.

Pet Shop Boys

The tracks Legacy and Beautiful People from the new album “Yes”, were recorded last year with LMO in Abbey Road Studio 1. They were orchestrated by Owen Pallett for strings and brass.

David Gray

David Gray recorded a track (called Jackdaw) with LMO for his new album, which was arranged by LMO cellist Caroline Dale. Recorded at David Gray’s own Church Studios, the track was scored for a double string quartet comprising the following players: Perry Montague-Mason, Jackie Shave, Cathy Thompson and John Mills (violins), Andy Brown and Bruce White (violas), Caroline Dale and David Daniels (celli).

An LMO string quartet (Jackie Shave and Ralph de Souza - violins, Andy Brown – viola and Caroline Dale – cello) recently recorded 3 tracks for Stokes Nielson’s new album at Abbey Road studio 3. The string arrangements were written by Rupert Christie.

Stokes Nielson and his band The Lost Trailers were the first Country Music band to work at Abbey Road studios and the session was recorded by legendary engineer / producer Eddie Kramer.

The Last Shadow Puppets

The Last Shadow Puppets widely acclaimed album The Age of the Understatement hit No 1 in the UK album sales chart. The group includes Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane from The Rascals and LMO are featured on all the new album tracks with arrangements by Owen Pallett.
