LMO record Stardust
Stardust is Director Matthew Vaughn’s new film, due for 2007 release in August (US) and October (Rest of World) by Paramount Pictures / Marv films. The film was written by Neil Gaiman (novel) and Jane Goldman (screenplay) and has a stellar cast including Charlie Cox, Claire Danes, Robert De Niro, Sienna Miller, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ian McKellen, Peter O’Toole, Ricky Gervais and Catherine Tate.
Ilan Eshkeri’s sumptuous score called for a large orchestra (26 violins, 10 violas, 8 celli, 6 double basses, double woodwind, 6 horns, 2 trumpets, 4 trombones, tuba, celeste / piano, harp and 4 percussion. The orchestral recording sessions occurred during April and May at Abbey Road studio 1 and Air Lyndhurst Hall and over 100 minutes music was recorded. Robert Elhai and Julian Kershaw were the principal orchestrators, LMO Music Director Andy Brown conducted the sessions and they were engineered / produced by Steve McLaughlin.
There were further contributions to the score from Metro voices, the band Take That (end credits) and other vocal sessions at North Pole studios.
