LMO record The Impossible with Fernando Velázquez

1 SmallLMO have just completed recordings with composer Fernando Velázquez for The Impossible – a very moving story of a family caught up in one of the worst natural disasters of our time.

The Impossible was filmed on location in Alicante, Spain and Thailand and stars Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor. The screenplay was written by Sergio Sanchez and the films’ director is Juan Antonio Bayona.

2 SmallThe recording sessions took place at Abbey Road studio 1, with LMO led by Tom Bowes and conducted by the composer. 40 strings together with piano and harp, were used throughout the sessions and a brass group of 4 horns and 3 trombones supplemented 1 of the sessions. There were also 2 solo timpani sessions and the score was enhanced throughout by extensive cello solos which were performed by LMO principal Dave Daniels.

Steve McLaughlin engineered and co – produced the recordings with Fernando Velázquez and you can see The Impossible next year when it is released by Summit Entertainment.
