The Young Victoria 1 ResizedThe Young Victoria is a dramatisation of the turbulent first years of Queen Victoria’s rule, and her enduring romance with Prince Albert. Ilan Eshkeri recorded his score with LMO in Abbey Road Studio 1 over 7 sessions. Steve McLaughlin was the engineer, assisted by Richard Lancaster. The music was written for a full orchestra, with a string strength of 12 1st violins, 10 2nd violins, 8 violas, 6 celli and 4 double basses, 4 horns, trumpet, 2 trombones, timps / percussion, harp and piano / celeste.The orchestra was led by Gabrielle Lester who also recorded several violin solos for the score.The Young Victoria 2 ResizedAlistair Malloy (glass harmonica) and William Purefoy (counter tenor) contributed further overdubs.

End titles to The Young Victoria were sung by Sinead O’Connor and recorded with a smaller string section at British Grove Studios. Andy Brown conducted all the sessions.
