LMO score Being Flynn

Andylmo SmallLMO recently scored music for Being Flynn which is directed by Paul Weitz who also wrote the screenplay and produced by Nick Flynn, Michael Costigan and Andrew Miano. It stars Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore and tells the story of a young man who finds jobs in various homeless shelters in Boston where he often runs into his brilliant but troubled father.

Damon Gough (Badly Drawn Boy) was the composer, also contributing guitars and keyboards to the soundtrack. LMO’s contribution started with a morning session for 3 horns led by Michael Thompson, oboe (played by Ruth Bolister) and clarinet (played by Anthony Pike). In the afternoon LMO principal cellist Caroline Dale contributed cello solos, together with Mary Scully (double bass) and Sally Heath (piano) who also recorded further piano solos.
DamonSteve SmallFinally a 30 piece string section led by Nick Ward (10 first violins, 8 seconds, 6 violas, 4 celli and 2 double basses completed the recordings.
This session was conducted by Andy Brown and the sessions took place at British Grove studios in Chiswick, London.
