LMO tour Japan

Cover SmallLMO have recently returned from a 9 concert tour to Japan. Cities visited included Tokyo, Sendai, Morioka, Otsuchi and Iwate – some of the worst affected areas of the Great East Japan earthquake and Tsunami in March 2011. The Tohoku Charity, established to support victims of the tragedy through cultural support, promoted the tour which followed concerts and recordings in London. Further support came from the British Council, Japan foundation, Sasakawa Great Britain, Anglo Japanese organisation, and the Daiwa Foundation. The tour repertoire celebrated a fascinating fusion of Eastern and Western cultures and included arrangements of traditional
Japanese folksongs by multi instrumentalist and composer / arranger
Joji Hirota who 1 Smallwas also a soloist on the tour.

LMO was led by Rita Manning and conducted by Andy Brown. The principal cellist Rachael Lander has written a very insightful blog (part one and part two) and a tour dvd will shortly be available for sale with all proceeds to be donated to the Tohoku charity.
