Solomon Kane
Solomon Kane is a fictional character created by the pulp-era writer Robert E. Howard. A 17th century Puritan, Solomon Kane is a sombre-looking man who wanders the world with no apparent goal other than to vanquish evil in all its forms. His adventures, published mostly in the pulp magazine Weird Tales, often take him from Europe to the jungles of Africa and back.LMO recorded Klaus Badelt’s score for Solomon Kane over 2 days in Abbey Road Studio 1. A somewhat unusual ensemble comprised a 30-strong string section and 10-strong brass, with no woodwind or percussion. Further cues were recorded at Air Lyndhurst Studios by Liam Byrne (Viola de Gamba), Andy Findon (recorders) and Gill Tingay (Celtic harp). Klaus Badelt conducted the sessions himself, with Jeff Toyne the orchestrator and Jake Jackson behind the desk. Chris Brooke was music editor / producer.
